Lately, despite life reaching slightly hectic heights, there is one thing that I have consistently been making time for: books. I have been reading without fail first thing each morning and just before going to sleep. Sometimes it is the same book, sometimes I juggle a non-fiction in the morning and fiction at night (always in that order for some reason), but it has become so rooted into my days that I am packing multiple books for my upcoming trip, just so that I don’t run out of reading material and ruin my comfy little routine.

Chocolate Chip Spelt Cookies with Pecans + Orange

A funny thing has happened in the past year and a half. Every time I relay to someone that I am flying back to Minneapolis, I say without hesitation “I am going home for the holidays” and yet when I then say how long my trip is, I conclude with “I am flying home at the end of the month.” I suppose learning to call two places home is part of growing into full adulthood, but there is something curious about it when the two places are so vastly different.

Strawberry Cardamom Coconut Muffins

I debated with myself for a while about what direction to take with this blog. I’ve had food blogs in the past that always provided some solace and enjoyment, but I would get stuck frequently with bad cases of recipe block and spiral into a circle of frustration. I began to add some travel stories while also beginning this website as a professional dance news space. Finally I asked myself- why the need to have everything so separate? Interests are made to intersect. I don’t believe in separating hobbies from real work.
